Temporary contract for 12 months | full-time 37 hours per week | £42,463 to £46,732 per annum (Grade K) | Norwich - hybrid
Senior Alternative Education Service Officer
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Alternative Education Service on a temporary one-year contract commissioning high quality education for children who will otherwise not receive a full-time education.
The team has the responsibility for discharging the Local Authorities duties under Section 19 of the Education Act and will work with pupils who are mostly not on a school roll.
The Senior AES Officer role includes line management, leading on an area of development for the service, case work, identifying and sourcing offsite educational packages for primary, secondary and students with SEND.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the manager as policies and procedures are embedded to ensure the Local Authority is compliant with its statutory duties for both educational provision and the welfare of these pupils.
With relevant experience/qualifications, you will need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of children’s and pupils' needs and how to plan a high-quality education package, and the tenacity and determination to ensure the team achieves positive outcomes for children and young people. Your role will involve working across different teams when advocating for pupils’ needs, and effective communication skills to develop existing relationships and partnerships will be an integral part of the role.
Norfolk County Council supports flexible and smarter ways of working, within the needs of the service.
