Mechanical Fitter LOCATION: London Borough of Sutton SALARY: £32,500 per annum MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB To provide day to day service maintenance and repair of horticultural plant and machinery. Working autonomously whilst managing and prioritising your workload, you will be responsible for the high-quality output of services in line with manufacturer and legislative specifications. To ensure all activities are undertaken in full accordance with prevailing Health & Safety guidelines. The Fitter will also be required to carry out machinery-specific inductions for fellow colleagues to ensure competence. ACCOUNTABILITIES To create a positive impression with our customers and work to exceed their expectations Presenting a polite and responsible attitude at all times To make yourself available to attend contract meetings as and when required Accurately report faults as well as and plant and machinery issues to line manager Assist line manager to maintain machinery asset register and assigning new equipment with Company asset numbers as required To maintain accurate machinery service and repair records for audit To be responsible for raising orders and procuring cost effective solutions within the budgeted guidelines Program a routine maintenance program for machines and to follow accordingly To promote and wear the correct corporate clothing Ensuring that workforce areas are professionally presented, cleaned and kept clean and tidy To understand what the services of the company and promote wherever possible To act in a professional and confident manner, to accept responsibility, to work effectively to achieve results and to set an example To plan and organise your own workload efficiently and to respond positively when under pressure and when confronted with problems To communicate effectively, to keep managers informed, and to listen and ask questions to ensure understanding Documentation to be filled in and returned to line manager for reviewing To be efficient and organised, working to company systems, e.g. timesheets, works control tick sheets, etc to ensure that contractual performance obligations are met To ensure all maintenance is undertaken in full accordance with prevailing Health & Safety guidelines and to manufacturers specifications Help to promote a high level of Health & Safety awareness Ensure work area is compliant with all Health & Safety regulations and follow Company standards/procedures To elevate any safety related operator issues to management with specific recommendations To carry-out routine site audits To ensure that any plant/equipment is used safely and only after suitable training has been given A requirement of this role may be to travel to other company contracts in order to carry out further machinery inductions To understand and work to risk assessments and COSHH assessments and to report accidents and near misses as and when required To identify opportunities and suggest alternative, better, more effective ways of doing things To integrate a greener and more environmental policy for the contract To make good use of the opportunity to discuss your work and review your job specification and to take an active part in planning changes and improvements as appropriate To act to help the company control costs and avoid wastage wherever possible To inform line manager of any abuse to plant and machinery that has taken place To understand the correct machinery items for the job and to understand the maintenance requirements of machinery Ensure appropriate checks and records are kept To utilise best, most economic and effective work practices To take responsibility as part of the team for delivering a quality service To show initiative and make suggestions for improvements that may lead to increased productivity To show a rigorous concern for the security of company buildings, vehicles, machinery and materials
