Tradefield are working with a trusted client of ours and due to their continued growth, a new role has been created to oversee all of the group's infrastructure. The role also assists the desktop support team and provides day-to-day management support to the Head of IT. The role is hands-on and varied, covering a spectrum of different skills, from hardware and networking to desktop applications and online resources. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, keen to take responsibility and able to actively assist in the continued growth of the company. Our client is looking for an Infrastructure Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of all IT systems across the group of companies. This comprises of 30 retail branches, 4 distribution warehouses and multiple website brands. The role supports the Head of IT by implementing plans and policies to meet the changing demands of the business. This will be Monday to Friday and you will have a choice on your working hours, whether it be (Apply online only) or (Apply online only) and hybrid working is also optional for this position, but you must be in the office at least 3 days a week. Your key responsibilities will consist of: Taking the lead on all infrastructure matters, liaising with suppliers whilst maintaining a hands-on approach. Maintaining high levels of supportability by applying standards and commonality across all sites with regard to equipment and configuration. Reviewing changing needs, researching technology and evaluating suppliers as necessary. Creating proposals for review with the Head of IT. Coordinating with the Desktop support analyst(s), scheduling work and over seeing deliverables, assisting and covering 1st/2nd level support when required. Hands-on maintenance and configuration of IAAS services via Azure and AWS. Providing a point of escalation for infrastructure incidents as appropriate. Liaise with third-party suppliers to ensure quality of service and manage issue resolution. Oversee licensing to ensure our client is never under or over-licensed for any particular product, especially subscription services. Maintain adequate business continuity posture covering network security and backup procedures. Ensure the department documentation is maintained and that equipment is recorded, protected and fit for purpose. To be successful in your application, you will need: 5 years of previous experience in a similar infrastructure-oriented role, ideally in a retail environment. Strong communication skills, able to describe issues in a non-technical way to other staff members and senior management. Good knowledge of Windows server, Office 365 and related services. Hands-on experience of hardware, patch panels, switches and routers. Knowledge of networking, telephony, printing and cloud technologies. Full clean UK driving license and willingness to use own car when necessary. Good understanding and or experience of cloud-based enabling technologies such as firewalls, emailers, web hosting, DNS maintenance, VPN etc. DBS Security Check required. Ideally from a multi-branch/location environment. Aptitude for retail technologies such as bar coding and warehouse stock operations. Although rare, the ability to travel with the possibility of overnight stay is necessary for the role. Self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision in a small company environment.
