Due to a busy workload for 2025 and beyond, Bleeker & Weith (#menofsteel, #boysofalloy - general and precision engineers) are looking for general engineers to become part of their team based in Timaru, South Canterbury.
Whether you are newly qualified, a journeyman engineer, or have a transferable skillset from another industry, if you can weld and are keen to learn, then we'd love to hear from you.
At Bleeker & Weith, the workload is varied, with a mix of workshop and site-based work. From fabrication to repairs and maintenance across industries including food and beverage, marine, agriculture, transport, and building, no two days are the same.
Generally, they work 45 hours a week Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work. Overtime rates and other allowances are paid. Some flexibility is required to meet maintenance and project deadlines, but this will always be discussed in advance.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
* Workshop-based tasks such as fabrication and repairs
* Site-based work including maintenance, repairs, and commissioning of new equipment
* Working collaboratively with other team members to achieve the best outcomes for their clients
* Maintaining positive customer relationships and communication
Key skills & attributes we are looking for include:
* On-job experience in engineering/welding (within engineering or other industry sectors)
* Honest, reliable, and punctual (plus a good sense of humour - this is not negotiable!)
* Full class 1 driver's license
* Able to follow instructions, work well as part of a team, and take ownership of your work
* Have NZ residence/citizenship or work visa
* Able to pass pre-employment health and drug screening
* Clear written and verbal communication in English
* Proven literacy and numeracy skills
