The role
We are looking for an Audio Describer to provide scripting and voicing of the full range of programme genres. The successful candidate would be part of a vibrant department which is developing a number of exciting initiatives, including live Audio Description, a new programme of additional audiovisual content designed to complement and enhance the regular in-programme AD, as well as exploring the use of live AD.
The role directly interfaces with our clients' audiences. The post holder must have high levels of personal integrity and must take personal responsibility for their work. Organised and systematic in approach, with superb attention to detail, they must be able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines while maintaining a professional manner.
This role is based from home, so the applicant must have a suitable office set up with good broadband speeds and must be able to troubleshoot technical issues.
Principal Accountabilities
1. The role involves scripting Audio Description.
2. Maintaining and creating programme templates with characters, locations, and episode synopsis (collaborative working).
3. Understanding and employing different 'admin' procedures such as breaks, shot changes, and notes to the voicer.
4. At a point to be agreed with the Audio Description Production Manager, the job holder will progress to voicing Audio Description:
5. Create voiced recordings of scripts.
6. Understand and monitor audio levels and maintain awareness of recording equipment.
7. Comprehensive QC of voice files.
8. Knowledge sharing/collaborative working.
9. Reversioning Audio Description files from archive content.
10. Including audio editing.
11. Participate fully in a continuous process of performance improvement on a team and individual level, including the training of new ITV staff.
12. Any other duties that may be required by management from time to time.

Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)
1. An excellent standard of written English, including spelling and grammar with strength in creative writing.
2. A clear and confident speaking voice suitable for recording.
3. An ability to work under time pressure and in a broadcast environment and maintain quality at all times.
4. Great team working skills.
5. Meticulous attention to detail able to review work done by others to ensure 100% accuracy.
6. Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
7. Love of television.
