GSL are working with a friendly Special Needs school in Portsmouth who are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team. This special school caters for pupils aged 11-16 years who have complex learning difficulties. In addition to their learning difficulties, some pupils have other needs associated with autistic spectrum condition, medical conditions, speech, language and communication difficulties.
This school offers a fantastic forest school experience, a lovely gardening area for the children to learn and grow in. The school has a rich and balanced curriculum with a focus on outdoor learning, preparation for adulthood and life skills such as cooking.
An ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and will have experience supporting people who have complex learning difficulties. In addition to this, the school is looking for someone who has an energetic and bubbly personality, ready to inspire children.
Job Role:
1. Working under the guidance of a teacher supporting small groups of pupils with learning tasks.
2. Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and communication skills.
3. Supporting children to achieve their personalised EHCP targets.
4. Safeguarding will be your number one priority ensuring the welfare of the pupils.

* Have the right to work in the UK.
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
* Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
