If so, we want to hear from you About Us The Children and Young People's Travel Service (CYPTS) provides essential transport for over 6,000 children and young people across Birmingham, ensuring they can access education. Without our support, many of these children would face significant barriers to attending school. As part of our commitment to delivering an efficient and effective service, we are expanding our team and looking for a dedicated Applications, Eligibility & Review Team Leader to join us. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team that plays a crucial role in assessing and delivering transport solutions that promote independence, accessibility, and sustainable travel. The Role As the Applications, Eligibility & Review Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing a team of Application, Eligibility and Review Officers and Bus Pass Officers. Your role will be vital in ensuring that all travel support applications are assessed and reviewed efficiently, in line with policy, statutory guidance, and best practices. Key responsibilities include: Leading and motivating a dedicated team to ensure high-quality service delivery. Working in partnership with schools, colleges, social workers, and families to assess and plan travel support. Overseeing risk assessments of applications, ensuring children and young people are allocated the most appropriate transport arrangements. Monitoring outcomes to ensure compliance with statutory duties and service timescales. Providing expert advice and guidance on travel solutions for children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). About You We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate individual who is committed to supporting children and young people. The ideal candidate will have: A good standard of literacy and numeracy skills. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and local policies related to home-to-school transport. Experience working with SEND and a clear understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people with additional needs and their families. Experience in risk assessment and reviewing Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) to determine eligibility and appropriate travel provisions. Excellent communication skills to work effectively with service users, providers, and stakeholders. A customer-focused approach, ensuring inclusivity and access for all.
