Employment Lawyer
A Leeds office of a UK wide law firm has a requirement for an Employment Lawyer to join their busy and dedicated Employment team. The Employment Lawyer will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive who will work on a hybrid basis to run a case load of legal expense insurer files as well as assisting with non-contentious work from time to time. There may be scope for supervision of junior case handlers.
Experience of working in the employment field is essential. The work is challenging but rewarding and the team places a high value on mutual support and co-operation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Advising clients on potential Employment Tribunal claims;
- Running a case load of Employment Tribunal claims, including drafting pleadings, drafting witness statements, negotiating settlements and advising on settlement agreements, and instructing counsel or advocates as necessary;
- Complying with insurer service level agreements;
- Supporting the employment team with non-contentious work, including provision of contractual documentation, handbooks and other employment documentation, together with provision of reactive and proactive employment advice to commercial clients, including telephone advice;
- Participating in marketing initiatives, including writing updates on employment law and providing training sessions to clients;
- Ensuring accurate advice is given to clients;
- Using our case management system to progress files;
- Billing and invoicing.
Skills/Competencies required:
Essential:
- Fully qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEx;
- A passion for employment law and for providing commercial and practical solutions;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Effective communication and time management skills;
- Ability to take full responsibility for cases and strategy (subject to supervisory and group support);
- The ability to work as part of a team;
- The ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines;
- An organised approach to work; and
- A positive attitude.
Experience required:
- Previous Employment Law experience at sufficient level;
- The ability to run a caseload.
Salary dependent upon experience.
