Our defence sector client is currently recruiting for an SC or DV cleared HIMARS Lead Engineer to manage the delivery of all engineering aspects of a project which seeks to acquire a fleet of HIMARS platforms for the British Army. This is a contract role starting ASAP until the end of December 2025, with scope to be extended. The role offers a day rate of up to £570 per day (Inside IR35) and a hybrid working arrangement (2/3 days per week onsite in Bristol, remainder working from home).
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage the delivery of all engineering aspects in area of responsibility as defined in the assignment specification or objectives including managing the acquisition safety aspects.
* Provide expert advice and guidance in own technical area to solve complex technical problems and identify application risks.
* Manage the technical requirements for the acquisition lifecycle stage of one or more project, programme, service or system.
* Monitor and implement any governance and assurance policies and procedures to ensure the ‘safe & professional’ status of the area led.
* Lead on the development of requirements related to own area of specialism including acceptance plans, performance criteria and draft specifications.
* Interface with industry as the intelligent customer both in a scrutiny role and supporting the identification of application risks.
EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or has demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
* Member of a relevant Professional Engineering / Science Institute or equivalent body.
* Relevant Level 4 (or higher) qualification or equivalent experience.
* Experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
* Wide ranging depth and breadth of technical experience in own specialism with knowledge and application of Systems Engineering approaches.
DESIRABLE
* Experience with working with Land Vehicles.
* Experience with FMS cases and working with US Standards.
WOME experience desirable but not essential.
