This highly versatile role will involve working with libraries in the borough delivering the Library Plan through the planning and delivery of projects, service development and improvement initiatives, activities and events, provision of information and training, and effective communication and marketing.
It will require working closely with colleagues in the stock, performance, and systems support teams in addition to providing operational support for frontline services.
The post-holder will have a key role to play in the effective management, monitoring, and development of book and other stock across the borough’s libraries and neighbourhood hubs, to include selection, processing, and end of life provision.
The post-holder will have a good understanding of public libraries and a genuine desire to enthuse our residents about the many benefits they offer. You will have experience of developing activities and events that increase awareness of, and usage of, library resources supporting the Universal offers and the Library Strategy.
The post-holder will enjoy the opportunity to be creative, be able to influence peers whilst developing good working relationships with them, have excellent time management skills, and the flexibility to work in a variety of locations across the borough.
The post-holder will have excellent IT skills including its application in a library setting, be confident in the use of social media, and understand the importance of digital engagement with residents.
This is an ideal post for someone who is self-motivated, works both independently and as part of a team, wants to gain new skills and develop their knowledge whilst enjoying new challenges.
The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, as and when required. There will be a need for lifting and manual handling within the role, for example receiving deliveries and the movement of stock across the service.
