We are seeking an exceptional and visionary Head of Art / Design and Technology to lead our creative departments at a thriving secondary school in Oxford. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to shape the future of our Art and Design and Technology curriculum, lead a dynamic team, and inspire students to explore their creative potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the Art and Design & Technology departments, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all year groups.
* Develop and implement an inspiring curriculum that encourages students to think creatively, solve problems, and explore new techniques and technologies.
* Motivate, support, and mentor staff within the department, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
* Monitor and evaluate student progress and departmental performance, ensuring continuous improvement.
* Organise and lead extracurricular activities such as exhibitions, workshops, and design challenges, enriching the students’ learning experiences.
* Contribute to whole-school development and initiatives, working closely with senior leadership to shape the strategic direction of the school.
The Ideal Candidate:
* A qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
* Proven leadership experience in teaching Art and/or Design and Technology at the secondary school level.
* Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and up-to-date teaching practices in both Art and Design & Technology.
* A track record of delivering outstanding results and fostering creativity in students.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and lead a team, as well as work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
* A passion for nurturing creativity and encouraging students to express themselves through a variety of media and techniques.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
