What is the role of a Planner at ForFarmers?
The Operations Planner reports directly to the Planning and Continuous Improvement Manager and is responsible for maintaining raw materials/finished goods stock holding against customer requirements. Responsible for converting the Logistics plan into an efficient production plan for the mill, to deliver the required product on time/in full to the customer, stock management administration and physical stock control.
Key responsibilities and duties of the role include:
* Management of site based stock levels ensuring replenishment in a timely manner.
* Convert the logistics plan into a deliverable production plan utilising resources available at the best efficiency.
* Conduct daily stock counts.
* Interrogate OTIF reports and issue reasons for the root cause of failures.
* Participate in the Tier accountability process and update the daily tiered spreadsheets.
* Ensure scheduled deliveries are made on time and in full.
* Instigate route Cause Analysis on failures to adherence to production plan and put corrective actions in place.
* Sampling and booking in and out of Raw material deliveries.
* Management of stock holding to agreed financial and physical targets.
* Engaged and involved in Continuous Improvement throughout the site.
* Fully assist in the monthly stock take process. Working with the Planning and Continuous Improvement Manager to achieve the company’s stock taking schedule.
* Cover holidays/sickness, as and when required so that all Supply Chain planning requirements are met.
* Undertake weighbridge duties. Dealing with raw material and finished product queries as well as customer collections.
* Working closely with other departments (Customer Services/Transport) to maintain an effective and efficient Supply Chain.
The successful candidate will have:
* Experience of stock and inventory control both with computerised and physical stock systems.
* Outgoing personality.
* Good written and verbal communicator.
* The ability to work as part of a functional team.
* Good telephone manner.
* The ability to work shifts as agreed between 6am and 6pm and rotated weekends. Flexible in working hours outside of standard shift patterns particularly in winter.
* Strong organisational skills.
