You will be involved with writing specifications, producing designs, providing site based activities including testing and commissioning. You will also support and lead the management of technical interfaces, particularly with our clients.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. In depth relevant sector technical knowledge and capable of undertaking all aspects of work associated with SCADA / BMS / SISS / Mobile Solutions.
2. Excellent Stakeholder collaboration skills, customer focused and good communication skills enabling excellent relationship building.
3. Maintain client relationships and support the projects by liaising and working with Internal / External engineers to meet customer targets and expectations.
4. Design and build engineering solutions to customer specifications, working with the team to produce designs, drawings and documentation.
5. Ensure a detailed understanding and compliance with Company QHSE, CDM and Rail Standards Policy and Procedures.
6. Capable of preparing written communication for Internal / External issues.
7. Support the senior engineers and management team to supervise the progress of works and ensure that the development, design construction, testing and financial targets are met, and effect remedial action where required.
8. Review technical specifications (internal and external to relevant standards) to ensure they meet the projects requirements and provide technical support to Clients, Engineering and Suppliers.
9. Investigate issues with site installations and implement corrective action plans whilst ensuring Lessons Learned / Lived are communicated to all.
10. Review and approve proposed specifications, designs and delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering associated with Projects.
11. Have the capability to prepare professionally written communications to the client, including detailed technical communications.
12. Able to work alone using own initiative, problem solve and research project specific information with minimal support.
13. Assist the sales team with the production of bids and quotations.
14. Support members of staff and provide constructive feedback on continuous improvement.
15. Provide progress and feedback Internal / External as and when required.
16. Undertake site work for site surveys and installation works as required by the project.
17. Promote good working relations within teams and between other operating units.
18. To keep abreast of industry developments and technical changes.
19. Develop a detailed engineering understanding on the in-house and third part supplied products used across projects.
20. Develop an understanding of software packages on a multitude of platforms.
21. Ability to be proactive and reactive to meet project requirements.
22. Define and develop scopes of work for design and engineering delivery activities.
23. Support the Project Manager in processing client changes to contracts.
Skills and Experience:
1. Rail industry experience involving control systems.
2. Safety Functional TUV Certified.
3. Have a detailed understanding of the BS, ISO, Safety, Network Rail, CDM standards.
4. Detailed knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products used, e.g. Excel, Word etc.
5. Ability to Code in C, Assembler, Visual Basic, Scripting Macros where applicable.
6. Capable of Programming Silworx, GX Works and GOT HMI where applicable.
7. Ability to Configure Silworx, GX Works and Iconics where applicable.
8. You will have experience and appetite for self-development.
9. Possess an Engineering Qualification such as HNC, HND, BEng or equivalent or significant experience gained from similar roles.
10. Ability to read drawings and interpret designs.
11. Ability to use IT Packages such as MS Office, Visio, CAD, etc.
12. Good Knowledge of system design, including general arrangements, schematic diagrams, electrical diagrams etc.
13. Assist in undertaking reviews/audits of design and/or construction activities, monitoring safety, environment and ensuring quality of design, construction, testing and commissioning and management systems are meeting specifications.
14. Able to engineer & deliver a project in accordance with client specifications, drawings & documentation.
15. Ability to work under own initiative and drive to deliver results.
16. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads with an understanding of task time and people management.
17. Ability to work independently and as part of a team where required.
18. Adaptable to changing circumstances to meet customer demand.
The above duties and responsibilities represent the main task areas of the above position. However, all employees are expected to undertake any other job or work within their capabilities and the post holder should be flexible in their job role.
From time to time, the Company may need to change the duties and responsibilities of some of the staff to support the Company’s changing business requirements. Employees will be consulted should their tasks and roles need to be revised or changed.
Hours of Work: Flexible working Options
37.5 hours per week between the hours of 0700 hrs and 1800 hours Monday to Friday. Core working hours are 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs Monday to Thursday, 0900 to 1200 hours Friday. Lunch break is 1200 to 1230 hours daily.
