Cardiacsurgery is a very fast paced, often challenging, but very rewarding specialityto work in. We cover Paediatric, Adolescent & Adult patients. We specialisein congenital and acquired cardiac conditions and treatments. One day we couldbe operating on a 1-day old 1kg neonate, the next day an 85year old adult, sono two days are ever the same. We are a multidisciplinary speciality and workalongside our colleagues in cardiac catheter labs, paediatric cardiac hybridtheatre, MRI and ICU areas in providing care for our patients. We work flexiblyacross anaesthetics and scrub as well as between our adult and paediatricareas.
Main duties of the job
Weare looking for a forward thinking, resilient member of staff who wishes toconsolidate their cardiac scrub skills and expertise, as well as being anindividual with a high level of communication and interpersonal skills. Youshould be flexible, well organised and able to meet the challenges of a busyand diverse team.
Youwill be responsible for providing perioperative care to patients undergoingcardiac procedures. As well as being involved in service development, standardsetting and clinical assurance.
Theservice is 24 hours and covers days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays
Forall new starters to the Trust, we have an award winning, structuredIntroduction to Professional Practice (IPP) Induction programme to prepare youfor working at LTHT. We also have a 6-month Preceptorship framework to supportyou in your new role, which incorporates further education sessions and supportforums and clinical supervision. On a team level we also offer all newcomers amentor to assist adjusting to your new role and support you in your first fewmonths in the team.
Currentregistration with NMC or HCPC is essential for all registered professionalroles.

Communicatewith members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate continuity of careand promote effective team working.
Toassist with the teaching and supervision of learners and other staff.
Thejobholder will work within an environment caring for peri-operative patients.
