Director, Business Operations & Strategic Programmes
The Director, Business Operations & Strategic Programmes plays a key leadership role within Global Supply Chain Digital and Tech on the Supply Chain Network and External Manufacturing leadership team.
The role reports directly to the VP of Global Supply Chain Network, Strategy and External Mfg. and is accountable for leading Business Operations & Strategic Programmes across GSC Digital & Tech working very closely with both the reporting line VP and the SVP, GSC D&T.
GSK's Global Supply Chain D&T team is the front facing business tech group supporting GSK's critical business of Global Manufacturing across all product portfolios (Vaccines, Specialty and Gen Meds). The team comprises of multiple business tech disciplines from site specific D&T partnering through to above site and global services like Data & Analytics and Global Demand & Supply Planning processes.
This role along with matrix support from the Portfolio team will be accountable to drive all strategic and business operational requests from the Office CDTO, Office of President of GSC as well as cross functional business services across GSC D&T, such as Strategic Partnering for the department.
The Director of Business Operations & Strategic Programmes, will serve as a trusted partner to the GSC D&T leadership team and will be responsible for ensuring alignment across departments, overseeing high-priority projects, and driving operational efficiency in a rapidly evolving global environment.
Key Responsibilities:
SVP Support / Operational Oversight
* In day-to-day execution of the overall functional and ensuring smooth operations between teams to drive one GSC D&T approach to support the business.
* Lead GSC D&T LT meetings and interactions to drive the SVP's operational and strategic agenda.
* Orchestrate talent and people processes across the LT.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Serve as a liaison between the senior offices across GSK and key stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads and external partners.
* Develop strong relationships with business leaders across Digital & Tech, Global Supply Chain, R&D Tech, GP&T and other departments to ensure technology projects are aligned with business needs and objectives.
Strategic Support for Digital Transformation:
* Assist in setting key priorities and strategic initiatives, supporting the CTO/CDO with data-driven insights, presentations, and operational plans.
Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement:
* Oversee the operational effectiveness of the teams, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve communication, and enhance productivity.
* Implement governance structures and frameworks for the technology function, helping to enforce processes and timelines while ensuring flexibility in response to dynamic global conditions.
Project Management & Cross-Functional Coordination:
* Lead high-priority, complex global projects that involve cross-functional teams, including digital transformation initiatives and/or workforce related.
* Develop and track project timelines, ensuring that key milestones are met, resources are allocated efficiently, and stakeholders are kept informed of progress.
* Work closely with the global teams to ensure alignment on project goals, progress, and the resolution of any roadblocks.
Crisis Management & Problem-Solving:
* Act as a problem solver for complex issues that may arise within the GSC D&T landscape, including system disruptions, cybersecurity challenges, or scaling issues.
* Lead responses to urgent technology challenges, ensuring continuity and resilience in critical systems, especially in the context of global manufacturing operations.
Change Management & Communication:
* Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of operating models across the global organisation.
* Craft communication strategies to effectively communicate updates, initiatives, and successes to the broader organisation.

Basic Qualifications & Experience:

Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred). or relevant experience.
Experience:
* Strong experience in technology leadership roles, ideally within a global manufacturing or digital tech environment.
* Expertise in project management, process optimization, and cross-functional team collaboration, with exposure to agile and lean methodologies.
Leadership Skills:
* Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership to set and execute strategic technology agendas.
* Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translate business goals into actionable plans.
* Strong decision-making and critical-thinking capabilities, with the ability to lead teams through periods of change and innovation.
Technical Proficiency:
* Proficiency in digital tools such as project management software (e.g., Jira, ADO).
Global Mindset & Cross-Cultural Sensitivity:
* Experience working in or managing global teams, with an understanding of different cultures, time zones, and business environments.
* Willingness to travel internationally as needed to oversee global initiatives and meet with stakeholders.
