A global company in the heart of Newcastle is looking for a Network Engineer to join a forward-thinking team. The role is pivotal in building and supporting IT systems, ensuring the smooth operation of a business-critical production environment within an ITIL service management framework. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of technical expertise in network infrastructure and a proactive approach to both daily tasks and long-term projects. Day to Day of the role: Provide network configuration and support for day-to-day operations of production, pre-production, and development networks, including LAN, WAN, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems. Implement new network infrastructure and make controlled changes to the existing setup. Collaborate with the wider infrastructure and data services team to underpin both internal and industry-leading IT solutions. Engage with IT Support Teams, Software Delivery, and Test teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers. Drive improvements in standards and processes within the team. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven networking experience with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. CCNA qualification is required, CCNP preferred. Additional Cisco, Check Point, or Palo Alto qualifications are advantageous. In-depth knowledge of Cisco/HP networking technologies and firewall technologies; experience with Next Generation Threat Prevention is essential. Proficiency with VPN technologies, QoS, and packet captures. Familiarity with Citrix load balancing, content switching technology, and WAF is desirable. Understanding of Cloud networking concepts, business continuity, disaster recovery, and information security. ITIL Foundation and CISSP qualifications are beneficial.
