We have 3 site locations; the central Liverpool site and hub sites in the Wirral and Aintree. Haematology inpatient services, including 2 wards, bone marrow transplant service and the regional Teenage and Young Adult unit (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust) are located at our Liverpool site.
It is an exciting time for The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, having recently expanded our regional haemato-oncology footprint to our Clatterbridge-Aintree site. We are expanding our ATIMP profile and are commissioned to deliver CAR-T therapy. These developments have provided an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Pharmacist in Haemato-oncology and is an important position within our large, diverse and friendly pharmacy team. The haemato-oncology clinical service includes inpatient and outpatient chemotherapy for patients with a variety of haemato-oncology conditions including bone marrow transplant, as well as pharmacist-led prescribing clinics for patients with myeloproliferative disorders, lymphoma and myeloma.
You will liaise with aseptic services, medicines safety and medicines optimisation leads regarding haemato-oncology matters and train junior and rotational pharmacists when required.
Prior haematology experience is desired but not essential.
In this role, you will work with other Advanced Haematology Pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians as the pharmaceutical experts in haematological malignancies and be responsible for introducing new cancer medicines into practice for this area.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide clinical, professional and technical expertise to support the delivery, development and monitoring of high quality patient focused pharmacy services to haemato-oncology patients.
2. Provide a highly specialised clinical pharmacy service to cancer services.
3. Act as a non-medical prescriber to support the chemotherapy day units and pharmacist-led prescribing clinics (there is the opportunity to undertake the independent prescribing course in post, if not already completed).
4. Support the implementation and maintenance of chemotherapy electronic prescribing to the haemato-oncology service.
5. Provide medicines optimisation services including dispensary duties, ward cover and aseptic release cover when required.
6. Support the development of expansion of the haematology clinical trials and ATIMP portfolio.
