We are seeking a dynamic Senior Management Accountant to join our finance team and play a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s financial planning, reporting, and performance. This is a key position responsible for delivering insightful financial analysis, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring rigorous financial controls and reporting standards. Working closely with the Head of Finance and senior stakeholders across the business, the Senior Management Accountant will drive improvements in profitability, forecasting accuracy, and financial efficiency.

JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Management Accountant will be a pivotal role in supporting the company’s financial performance and ensuring strategic alignment across various business units. This role blends strong analytical skills with commercial awareness to help drive business decisions, operational improvements, and profitability. Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with senior management and department heads, the Senior Management Accountant will provide insights and challenge business leaders to improve financial results while ensuring that the company’s objectives are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepare, analyse, and present monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements, and variance analysis with detailed commentary.
2. Deliver insightful performance reports and dashboards, highlighting key business drivers and variances against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
3. Maintain and enhance financial reporting models and tools to support business decision-making.
4. Lead the annual budget process and quarterly reforecasting, working collaboratively with department heads to align financial targets with operational priorities.
5. Provide rolling forecasts and scenario planning to support strategic agility and forward-looking performance management.
6. Conduct detailed cost and margin analysis across product lines and business functions to support commercial decision-making.
7. Identify and recommend cost-saving initiatives, process efficiencies, and margin improvement opportunities.
8. Lead continuous improvement initiatives across financial systems and reporting processes, with a focus on automation and data integrity.
9. Ensure full compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
10. Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management and operational teams, to understand and support their financial needs.
11. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior finance team members, supporting their development and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
All criteria detailed below are essential, unless stated as “D” (desirable).
Education and qualifications
· Chartered Accountant (e.g. ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA) or in the later stages of obtaining qualification (D) – Qualified by experience candidates will also be considered where the relevant experience is present.
Experience, knowledge and understanding
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in industry or significant experience within practice.
· Ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to inform business decisions.
· Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial ERP systems.
· Strong understanding of financial metrics and their impact on business performance, with a focus on profitability and cost optimisation.

· Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and rapport with colleagues.
· Ability to think strategically and provide insightful advice to non-finance colleagues.
· Attention to detail and strong organisation skills.
