Overview of role Come to work for our growing and exciting Defence and Energy Security Team who provide essential support to a number of clients across a wide and exciting portfolio. The Defence and Energy Security Controller role provides internal assurance within the Defence and Energy Portfolio by providing project security support and assurance to MML Defence and Energy projects in respect to our compliance against security obligations. Key Projects include those supporting the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, Defence Equipment and Support and a number other industry stakeholders. Responsibilities of the Defence and Energy Security Controller include; Essential Elements of Support Reporting to the UK Defence Security Controller on internal project assurance in relation to relevant and applicable security management policy and obligations. Primary role to support major MML Defence projects as their Project Security Controller to provide advise and input on project security requirements and provision of programme and project security advice and guidance as required to the PPs and PMs. Provision of advice on interpretation, implementation and monitoring security controls for the appropriate protection of HMG classified assets held by MML MOD projects. Provision of advice on Classification and aggregation, travel advice, ISNs, GovS007, JSP 440 and other regulatory compliance and use of DISX and other secure IS systems. Support the UK Defence Security Controller to provide internal assurance of MM compliance with the Cabinet Office's GovS007 and legacy Security Policy Framework (SPF) and provide management guidance for interpretation and implementation of contractual and, where appropriate, legislative security controls. Desirable Elements of Support Provision of advice on project adherence to Corporate Security Instructions on behalf of the UK Defence and European Civil Nuclear Security Controller Assist the UK Defence Security Controller to provide advice for MOD security aspects of bids to increase MML's 'Right to Win'. Assist in co-ordination the planning of appropriate security controls for a new contract or for the alteration of offices / buildings where classified assets are to be handled, stored or produced. Support the UK Defence and European Civil Nuclear Security Controller with managing and developing internal corporate security audits for UK Defence and European Civil Nuclear related activities and projects. Provide regular inputs to the MM Defence security risk register relating to projects being controlled in line with requirements of the Group Risk Management policy. Investigate, report, and log any internal security related breaches in accordance with MML and Contracting Authority incident reporting requirements as required by the UK Defence and European Civil Nuclear Security Controller Provide security guidance for EUNA Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery plans as required by the UK Defence and European Civil Nuclear Security Controller Attend project kick-off meetings as required to ensure compliance / awareness. Oversee project security plans / strategies. Candidate Specification Internal SAL analysis, dissemination, and review. Internal auditing against security obligations and management of corrective actions. • Input to Security Management Plan for bids, projects and frameworks. Delivery of internal Project security training Follow up to internal Project Security Incidents Updates to Security Risk Register Essential Knowledge and delivery of HMG security policy. Knowledge of HMG IT, physical and personnel security matters and understanding of data security requirements in different contexts Flexible and adaptable to change in complex project environments. Experience operating within a similar security management position. Effective communicator. Desirable Experience and relevant qualifications in risk management, if in particularly in defence or security setting. Experience of conducting audits against standards and guidance, particularly if in particularly in defence or security setting. Experience of delivering training. Experience in any Critical National Infrastructure sector. Relationship and customer management. Drive and tenacity to deliver results. Proactive in seeking continuous improvement.
