As we expand, we are looking for a motivated Graduate Estimator to join our team and grow within our company.
About the Role
As a Graduate Estimator, you will support our estimating team in producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for refurbishment and construction projects. Working closely with Quantity Surveyors, project managers, and suppliers, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of project costs, pricing strategies, and value management. This role is ideal for a recent graduate in Quantity Surveying or a related field, with a keen interest in specialising in estimating within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
•\tEstimating & Cost Analysis: Assist in preparing detailed and accurate estimates, cost analyses, and pricing structures for tender submissions.
•\tTake-Offs & Measurements: Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications to determine material, labour, and time requirements.
•\tSupplier & Subcontractor Liaison: Support the procurement process by engaging with suppliers and subcontractors to gather quotes and negotiate pricing.
•\tProject Documentation: Assist in maintaining thorough documentation for each project, including estimates, bid documents, and project cost reports.
•\tCost Comparison & Value Engineering: Analyse and compare costs to recommend value engineering options and optimise project costs.
•\tCollaboration & Learning: Work closely with the QS and project management teams to understand the entire project lifecycle and gain valuable industry insights.
Requirements
•\tEducation: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field; a QS background is preferred due to the alignment with estimating skills.
•\tTechnical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a good understanding of cost management principles and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
•\tAttention to Detail: Meticulous with numbers and able to produce accurate cost assessments and documentation.
•\tCommunication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and team members.
•\tAmbition & Willingness to Learn: A proactive approach to learning and the ambition to develop a career as an Estimator within the construction industry.
