An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bat Ecologist / Ecological Consultant with 3 years relevant consultancy experience to join an award-winning, multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy.
This role can be full-time or part-time offering excellent benefits, hybrid working and a salary range of £28,000 - £34,000.
As a Bat Ecologist / Ecological Consultant, you will manage and deliver bat-focused projects across various sectors.
You will be responsible for:
1. Conduct field surveys, including Preliminary Roost Assessments, daytime Bat Walkover surveys, and activity surveys.
2. Oversee the use of bat survey equipment and co-ordinate survey teams.
3. Prepare high-quality reports, including bat survey reports, EPS Licence applications, and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA).
4. Analyse bat survey data and interpret results, including statistical analysis.
5. Act as the primary contact for clients, ensuring clear and effective communication.
6. Co-ordinate specialist sub-consultants and assist in preparing tender proposals.
What we are looking for:
1. Previously worked as an Ecologist, Ecological Consultant, Ecological Surveyor or in a similar role.
2. At least 3 years relevant consultancy experience.
3. A relevant degree in ecology or a related field, with CIEEM membership.
4. A Natural England Level 2 Class Licence for bats and experience of working under bat EPS licences.
5. Understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
6. Background in the preparation of bat reports.
7. Knowledge of UK bat species and proven ability in bat survey techniques, including infra-red videography.
