Job Title: Sports Coach & Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provision (Stockport) About the School: We are delighted to be working with an Ofsted 'Good' rated specialist provision school, dedicated to providing a tailored national curriculum to meet the needs of every child. They are looking to appoint a Sports Coach & Teaching Assistant to join them on a temporary to permanent contract. The school is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere, ensuring each student's unique interests, needs, and learning styles are supported. You will be supporting pupils from KS1 all the way through to KS4. Role Overview: We are looking for an enthusiastic and nurturing Sports Coach & Teaching Assistant to join this supportive school environment. The role provides a fantastic opportunity to work with students, both individually and in small groups, helping them re-engage with their learning. As a Sports Coach & Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in motivating and inspiring students who have a range of SEND needs typically associated with ADHD and ASD. The school is looking for people who are interested in making the transition into working in an SEN setting, so prior experience is not essential. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with teachers to deliver bespoke learning plans focused on students' interests, vocational studies, and functional skills in English and Maths. Engage and motivate students who have become disengaged with their learning through the medium of sports. Model and maintain high standards of behaviour. Build strong relationships with students to encourage active participation and motivation. Support the team in preparing students for life beyond school, equipping them with the skills necessary for independence. Lead dynamic and engaging sports sessions that encourage students to develop new skills and enhance their well-being.Key Requirements: Understanding of Autism (experience is desirable but not essential). Knowledge of vocational education is beneficial. Strong communication skills, resilience, and patience. Ability to model positive behaviour and encourage student engagement. Passion for working with children with special educational needs. Willingness to learn and develop new skills. Ability to work well within a team.
