Bookmark are currently recruiting for a SEN Teacher for an excellent SEN setting in Derby. The role is available on a full-time and long term basis from January until the end of the academic year. Experience with BSL/British Sign Language and communication difficulties is beneficial however not essential. Most importantly is knowledge of the primary curriculum and expereince teaching pupils with SEN. If you are a qualified teacher looking for an opportunity to make a huge impact in the education of young people, we would love to hear from you Responsibilities: • Plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of students with special educational needs and disabilities. • Collaborate with the school's SEND department and other professionals to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students. • Utilise a range of teaching strategies, resources, and assistive technologies to engage and support students in their learning. • Adapt and differentiate instruction to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, providing additional support or challenges as needed. • Employ effective behaviour management techniques and create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and respect. • Assess and track student progress through ongoing observation, formative assessments, and individualised targets, providing feedback and support for improvement. • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians, other teachers, and support staff regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for development. • Collaborate with external professionals, such as speech and language therapists or occupational therapists, to support students' specific needs. • Keep accurate records of student progress, achievements, and any interventions or accommodations provided. • Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs. Requirements: • Proven experience as a SEND Teacher, preferably in a similar temporary capacity, with a strong understanding of different special educational needs and disabilities. • Knowledge of the relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in SEND education. • Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt instructional strategies to meet individual needs. • Familiarity with a range of teaching resources, assistive technologies, and interventions for supporting students with SEND. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and external professionals. • Strong organizational skills to manage and document individual student progress, assessments, and interventions. • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to support students' social and emotional development. • Flexibility and adaptability to work with a diverse range of students and their unique needs. • Successful completion of background checks and any other necessary screening required by the recruitment agency and the school.
