Aqua-Tech are delighted to be working with our client who have had an exiciting opportunity arise for an experienced Production/Workshop Manager. The role involves leading and developing the site team in a stunning location at Applecross, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Applecross is home to the largest recirculating aquaculture system in the UK and is recognized as the most sustainable smolt production facility in the country, featuring industry-leading technology. Key responsibilities include monitoring production against planned targets and collaborating with the General Manager to minimize deviations. The position coordinates essential production tasks such as stock vaccination, grading, fry, parr movements, and smolt transfer. The manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the site, focusing on fish growth, health, and welfare, and will conduct regular site checks to ensure that best practices are followed. They will maintain high standards of fish health, biosecurity, hygiene, and operational performance by utilizing SOPs and Health and Safety measures to drive continuous improvement. Additionally, the role involves reviewing site KPIs to meet production, financial, and health and safety goals, coaching and mentoring staff, and ensuring that training and development plans align with the Competency Framework. The manager will also deputize for the General Manager during their absence. Essential Qualifications: Management or supervisory experience in a recirculation freshwater aquaculture site, preferably with salmon. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate teams. Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. Results-driven, proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Hands-on management style, with a collaborative approach. Proven experience in maintaining excellent fish husbandry and environmental standards. Skilled in analyzing and interpreting production and budget data.
