Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust has procured an integrated Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution. The EPR will enable the biggest and most important transformational change in the Trust's health services across Devon in years. This is not the implementation of an IT system and training people to use it. It is a wholesale clinical and operational-led change to ways of working that will have an impact on every single one of our workforce and patients.
The Business Change Manager will lead on the transformation activities for the design, implementation and adoption of the One Devon EPR across Trust sites. This is a pivotal role within the programme team ensuring the future strategic objectives of the Trust can be realised through the implementation of the EPR.
Main duties of the job
* The Business Change Manager is key to providing the bridge between the EPR implementation and the Trust's business operations/Service Lines.
* The Post holder is responsible for overseeing the Change team as they work with key stakeholders to translate planned changes in clinical and/or operational workflows, and plan and implement projects to address and guide end users through the changes and to adopt the new ways of working.
* The post holder is responsible for working with the Change, Readiness and Benefits Programme Manager working across One Devon to ensure that programme wide standard approaches to Change Management are adopted.
* The post holder is responsible for working with the Benefits Lead to ensure that benefits are identified and change plans are implemented which will enable delivery of the benefits.
* The post holder is responsible for assuring the EPR Operations Director, Change, Readiness and Benefits Programme Manager and EPR Programme Board on the progress of change projects under its governance by leading an organisational readiness assessment and business assurance process.
* You will work as part of the EPR Programme Team to support clinical and operational departments to implement new ways of working across Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. Transformation of services will be underpinned by the implementation of Epic as our new Electronic Patient Record.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Works with Change Teams and Operational leaders to develop plans and strategies that will support the delivery of project benefits on time and to budget ensuring the project, products and outcomes are delivered within quality, time and cost constraints and fully aligned to the EPR Programme vision and Trust objectives.
* Works with relevant services to ensure that there is capacity within the areas impacted to take on change and ensure that any disbenefits are identified and managed.
* Provides expert advice regarding change management approaches to staff within the organisation.
* Leads change management of service redesign and new ways of working, in collaboration with Service Managers, using a range of change management approaches that may include Process Mapping, Statistical Process Control, and Lean Thinking.
* Responsible for ensuring change management processes and techniques are appropriately utilised in order to implement the changes required for the EPR. This will require knowledge of techniques such as:
o Process mapping techniques to plan system process changes;
o An understanding of demand and capacity principles so that business changes are properly planned and resourced;
o Knowledge of change management tools and techniques to assist in the planning and implementation of change to minimise the impact of change on operational staff.
Person specification
* Post Graduate Master’s Degree or equivalent experience.
* Change Management Qualification.
* Excellent knowledge of health service management, including change management and workforce re-design, acquired through training and significant NHS experience.
* Experience of leading and motivating staff, ensuring the planning and delivery of a range of work programmes within agreed timescales.
* Significant experience of leading system reform and service redesign programmes with demonstrable outcomes.
