Job overview
This is a great opportunity for a Nurse or AHP to work with the Trust Lead Cancer Nurse, AHP Leads, Lead Clinical Practice Facilitator, and Line managers to support the implementation of the Aspirant Cancer Career & Education Development (ACCEND) framework and help embed it to develop our existing and future cancer workforce. You will promote continuous learning and development and raise awareness of the variety of cancer education, training, and career opportunities available.
The role is to provide expert advice, knowledge, guidance, and support to the cancer workforce, including clinical nurse specialists, ward and outpatient nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Cancer Support Workers, and other members of the workforce who care for cancer patients in order to enhance care provision across the Trust’s cancer services. This will be achieved through a combination of coaching, mentoring, pedagogical guidance, and support, to enable cancer clinicians to evidence their ACCEND capabilities and thrive in their role.
This project role is funded by SWAG Cancer Alliance for 23 months and plans to focus on the development, expansion, and sustainability of practice learning by developing a supportive learning environment for the cancer care workforce. They will create resources to support line managers and develop ACCEND champions/mentors.
The aim of ACCEND is to assist with attraction and retention by offering structured professional development and an increased awareness of career pathways in cancer.
Main duties of the job
Working autonomously, with support from the education team, local, alliance-wide, and national communities of practice you will:
* Ensure the effective introduction of the ACCEND framework to different cancer workforce groups.
* Collaborate and work closely with the SWAG ACCEND implementation lead and other ACCEND practice education facilitators within the SWAG cancer alliance to share best practices, outcomes, and resources.
* Contribute to innovative practice development and help individuals link and bridge the gap between research, theory, policy, and practice.
* Support the Trust to optimize opportunities in cancer education and cancer career development.
* Evidence and provide assurance that the cancer workforce is achieving their ACCEND capabilities in a supportive and constructive manner while ensuring the balance of risk to service delivery from releasing clinical staff for CPD is carefully managed and equitable.
