The North East Combined Authority was formed on 7 May 2024. We are led by an Elected Mayor and Cabinet and cover the seven local authority areas of County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland.
Our purpose is to champion the full potential of our region. Collaborating with our partners and local authorities, we’ll create a better way of life by connecting communities, giving people the skills to succeed, and improving wellbeing for all, so that the North East is recognised as an outstanding place to live, work, visit and invest.
We have an exciting opportunity for two Project Managers to join the Bus Reform team in the Transport Directorate.
The Bus Reform Project is examining how we can use the opportunity of devolution to further improve bus services for customers across the North East region. The project has moved into a new and exciting phase where we will be undertaking a franchising scheme assessment (akin to a 5C business case) so we can deliver the bus system the North East region needs. In this multimillion-pound project, you will be expected to operate in a complex technical, strategic and political stakeholder environment and be able to apply recognised project management principles and techniques to deliver outcomes to the highest of standards. You will be required to oversee and deliver elements of the FSA as well as support the project through audit and consultation before potentially moving into transition and implementation of the preferred operational model.
This once-in-a-generation project is looking at reforming the bus service across the entire North East, and has the potential to grow into significant regional investment allowing the successful candidate the opportunity to not only work on one of the biggest regional projects but also the chance to develop their career as the project expands. The Bus Reform project is a key priority for the North East Mayor and therefore has and will benefit from increased exposure making it a landmark regional project.
We are looking for an experienced project manager with proven skills and an understanding of business case development using the 5C model. Opportunities for secondments into the roles are welcome.
In return for your valuable contribution, you will have access to an excellent benefits package:
* Generous leave entitlement, starting at 26 days, rising to 31 days after 5 years continuous service, plus 8 bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time staff)
* Flexible working practices including working from other locations and from home.
* A generous employer contribution pension scheme.
* A range of salary sacrifice schemes.
* Commitment to staff development and continuous learning.
* Progression and career enhancement opportunities.
If you have the skills and qualities to succeed in this role and are committed to delivering the combined authority’s vision and values, we look forward to hearing from you.
