Dale Farm Cooperative is a UK dairy farmer co-operative owned by over 1200 dairy farmers who supply us with fresh milk. Milk Collection Logistics Manager
About the Role
Reporting to the Group Logistics and Warehousing Manager, you will have full responsibility for the operational function of the Dale Farm Milk Collection and bulk movement function. To effectively lead the department to efficiently meet company requirements, delivering best practice in service, driver engagement, transport optimisation, team performance and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Milk Collection team to deliver optimum performance through the function.
* Optimise operational performance to meet business KPI’s.
* Review, develop, and embed Milk Collection KPIs to drive business performance and accountability.
* Develop the department's strategy, budgets, business plan, forecasts, and performance targets within the context of overall strategy to ensure the Milk Collection function runs smoothly and efficiently.
* Implement and drive a culture of lean covering efficiencies, cost, waste, yield and people.
* Lead the team to optimise the performance of all employees involved with the operations including effective communications, target setting, employee development and managing areas of poor performance and behaviour.
* Lead and develop the Transport Managers – overseeing their functions and promoting effective communication across the department and a positive working environment.
* Maintain the necessary systems, procedures, training and working practices to deliver best practice and meet the requirements of the business, group policies, accreditation bodies, customer requirements and statutory compliance.
* Drive a continuous improvement culture owned and implemented across the workforce. Benchmark against best in class, investigate new methods and technologies and implement where appropriate. Monitor performance trends and initiate improvement activities and corrective actions.
* Liaise with sites and Farm Liaison team to maximise internal and Farmer satisfaction.
* Actively promote a behaviour driven safety culture and ensure that the operations conform to the Health & Safety legislation and holds regular safety reviews.
* A minimum of 3 years previous experience in a transport management role.
* Proven track record of leading, motivating and engaging a multi-site team to the highest standards of performance in a fast paced environment.
* Experience in managing to legislative compliance.
* Experience in P&L accountability with track record of establishing and delivering against financial plans and objectives.
* Experience in resource planning and asset management.
* Experience in reporting KPI’s and implementing business improvement initiatives.
* Proficient in full MS Office package – with emphasis on Excel.
* Experience in managing H&S performance to align with strategy and best practice.
* Strong communication skills and can clearly demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Track record of developing team capability and competencies.
* Transport related training qualification.
* Previous experience using route optimisation software.
* Previous experience in the dairy industry.
