If you have experience providing excellent reception services, good IT skills, and the ability to actively listen to customers and deal with unexpected situations with courtesy, diplomacy, and patience, this role could be ideal for you.
Join our team in the Student Accommodation and Commercial Services Office, providing a friendly, helpful, and informative reception service to students, staff, and external visitors.
It is essential that in addition to having excellent customer service skills, you are able to deal calmly and confidently with all queries and bookings. You will need to be able to work flexibly at weekends or early evenings to help with applicant days and open day recruiting events, plus student arrival and departure days. These events usually take place on Saturdays.
As Receptionist, you can expect to be involved in:
1. Confidently resolving all initial enquiries from students, staff, residents, and others.
2. Providing a friendly, helpful, and welcoming service to all visitors to the reception area of the Commercial Services building, and acting as a positive ambassador on behalf of the University, ensuring all communications are handled in a professional manner.
3. Acting as the central reception point for deliveries, sorting, and collecting post, taking and passing on urgent messages.
4. Assisting with supporting the Departments’ marketing and communication activities.
5. Acquiring expertise in both Accommodation and University policies and procedures in relation to students and their stays in accommodation in order to answer any enquiries accurately with knowledge.
What will you bring to the role?
1. Experience of working in a busy and demanding front-facing customer service environment providing excellent customer care.
2. The ability to demonstrate experience handling difficult and unexpected situations.
3. Business and marketing awareness to monitor, contribute to, and help adjust our marketing and social media communication activity.
4. Capable of basic maths calculations in relation to financial charges and calculations.
5. A high level of IT skill and familiarity.
