This is a patient-facing role within our practice.
You will help to manage the needs of our patients through answering queries, making, and managing appointments within our reception, and ensuring that people have good quality written or verbal information to help them make choices about their care. Also, answer queries from other agencies and hospitals.
You will raise awareness when identifying patients who may benefit from support and signpost them appropriately. Work sensitively when interacting with patients, their families, and carers to capture key information.
Main duties of the job
You will deal with patients both face to face and by telephone. Keep accurate and up-to-date records of contacts, and update missing or out-of-date information about the person's circumstances appropriately using GP and other records systems relevant to the role, adhering to information governance and data protection legislation.
Develop knowledge of the local health and care infrastructure and know how and when to enable people to access support and services that are right for them. Regularly liaise with colleagues and a range of multidisciplinary professionals involved in patient care.
Attend practice multidisciplinary team meetings when appropriate along with other patient service team members.
Adhere to organisational policies and procedures, including confidentiality, safeguarding, lone working, information governance, equality, diversity and inclusion training, and health and safety.
Demonstrate a flexible attitude and be prepared to cover for holiday and sickness within our patient services team. There will be a requirement to work at both Matlock and on occasions at Ashover too. Full training will be given with regular reviews.
This role is approx. 35 hours per week; however, we would consider two part-time roles.
The hours of work are between 8am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday. There will be a requirement for the successful candidate to work Friday 8am to 6.30pm as part of the weekly hours.
About us
Matlock and Ashover Practice is made up of two surgeries, one at Imperial Road Surgery in Matlock with 7600 patients and a second surgery in the village of Ashover with 2400 patients, which is a dispensing practice. We have five GP partners and a further five salaried GPs. The practice is also a training practice with both registrars and medical students. We also have a musculoskeletal practitioner, a mental health practitioner, and Clinical Pharmacists working at the Practices. Our primary aim is to serve the General Public with first-class medical services.
