Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Senior Planner to be engaged on a permanent basis in Cumbria.
This is a role for an experienced Senior Planner working across the business unit. It presents an exciting opportunity for someone to join a growing team focused on excellence within the project control's function.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual who is keen to cement our existing expertise in delivering projects to our key clients and driving the growth of our business in this sector.
Reporting to the Group Head of Planning, responsible at tender stage for the range of activities involved in the project planning life cycle, which include:
1. Identifying planning scope, working with all disciplines to ensure the full project scope is captured within the programme;
2. Building the programme from first principles, ensuring that programme content is functionally compliant with the planning procedures and guidance;
3. Establishing and agreeing with Operations key methods of construction, sequencing, installation, and commissioning;
4. Producing and documenting the planning deliverables including programmes, basis of schedule, presentations, and reports;
5. Developing overall programmes, issuing to all parties for review and implementing recommendations, innovation, and best practice as applicable;
6. Cost and resource loading, plus resource levelling techniques as required;
7. Interfacing with third parties to identify and resolve issues.
In addition to the above, at contract stage the Senior Planner is responsible for:
1. Ensuring that the Contract Programme is produced, managed, and maintained in accordance with the planning procedures;
2. The overall planning strategy and the timing & sequence of the Contract Programme activities;
3. The issue and communication of the Contract Programme to the Project Lead for onward issue to Client and Project Team;
4. Ensuring that all other project planning and programming necessary for the execution of the contract is properly undertaken;
5. Set up appropriate visual programme to assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve productivity, performance, and safety of projects;
6. Ensuring all reporting requirements are accurately captured;
7. Establish, implement & manage EVM reporting throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Here's what you'll need:
1. Experienced with Primavera P6;
2. An ability to travel to project sites on a regular frequency and or as determined by project requirements;
3. Experience across all stages of the project life cycle in medium to large sized projects within the construction industry 1m - 20m;
4. Good understanding of the various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications;
5. Good understanding of the various methods of planning, programme, and progress monitoring, risk and opportunity management with reference to planning & programming along with communication skills, including writing reports & presenting;
6. Good understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment, and labour requirements.
