Permanent, Full Time – Salary (dependant upon skills & experience) up to £50k p.a. plus company car
We are a national car transportation company with over 750 employees, based near Carlisle, with a large fleet of car transporters delivering mainly new vehicles throughout the UK for a variety of motor manufacturers. ECM is part of the Constellation Automotive Group of Companies alongside brands such as Cinch, We Buy Any Car, BCA and Marshall Motor Group.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Health and Safety professional to manage and promote Health and Safety across all areas of our business, which includes vehicle workshops, offices and truck operations. The role is based mainly at our Carlisle Head Office site, but will require travel to other areas of the UK as needed.
Key Role Requirements
* Monitor and maintain a working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment legislation, and ensure compliance with best practices.
* Proactively monitor health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace.
* Provide H&S advice and guidance to employees at all levels.
* Create, monitor, manage, update and develop risk assessments and method statements.
* Conduct safety inspections and audits.
* Conduct investigations into accidents and near misses.
* Review and ensure effective implementation of emergency preparedness procedures for all relevant emergencies.
* Ensure statutory inspections and maintenance activities are performed on time.
* Prepare reports on safety performance and incidents.
* Liaise with employee Safety Representatives on relevant matters.
* Assist with managing ISO standards and compliances.
* Promote a positive H&S culture.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, or be working towards.
* Experience of working in a Health & Safety role.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
* A proactive and solution-orientated approach to problem solving.
* Root cause analysis experience.
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Good organisational skills, the ability to multi-task, manage your own workload and identify priorities.
* A basic knowledge of relevant Environmental legislation and practices.
* A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
* A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel when required.
Desirable skills, qualifications and experience
* Grad IOSH or higher.
* Experience of managing ISO systems (9001/14001/45001).
