The Opportunity
Salary: NJC Grade 8 £30,296 to £33,024 per annum, pro rata £24,236 to £26,419 per annum
Contract Type: Fixed Term/Secondment for a maternity/paternity cover until 28 July 2025
Working Pattern: 29.6 hours per week, part time, Monday to Friday
Location: Hybrid; County Hall, Chichester for 3 days per week with home working for 2 days per week (this is flexible)

West Sussex County Council (WSCC) have a great opportunity to gain experience within our Voice and Participation Team to cover a maternity/paternity leave on a fixed term basis.
You will join us as an Events and Projects Officer, supporting members of the team, the community, and relevant partner organisations to ensure Children’s Voice is at the heart of everything we do.
As an Events and Project Officer, you will work alongside the Voice and Engagement team to coordinate and plan partner events, staff events, activities for children in care, the youth cabinet, and training and development days.
You will attend, organise, deliver, and participate in training, meetings, seminars, briefings, and presentations for Council Officers, Elected Members, and the community. This is a fantastic chance to contribute towards ideas and strategies with a wide range of audiences.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
* Quality and compliance processing and reporting.
* Planning multi-agency meetings.
* Project work and producing reports.
* Monitoring budgets and accountable for small expenditures.
* Communicate and collaborate with a variety of colleagues, partners, and the community.
* Interpret, collate, and analyse complex information for the ongoing monitoring of performance access the service area.
* Keep records up to date.
About You
We are looking for someone who can organise and manage their own workload, and who is passionate about working and engaging with others.
If you have experience of partnership working, we would love to hear from you.
* You will often need to focus for lengthy periods of time.
* There will be an occasional need to work outside of normal office hours to meet the needs of the service when necessary.
* You will also need to be able to travel independently around the county when needed.
