Job Title: Principal Engineer – Mechanical Calibration

What you’ll be doing:
* Perform and supervise high level calibration / repair of Mechanical test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) including resource management and calibration workload signoff
* Write, review and approve calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets
* Take part in UKAS (ISO 17025) audits and quickly achieve UKAS signatory status
* Deliver specific, target driven on the job training / experiential learning to apprentices / lesser experienced team members
* Professional communication with technical stakeholders including consultation on new measurement technologies
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Extensive experience in a precision Mechanical metrology laboratory environment
* Understanding of quality systems & standards (ISO 17025 / ISO 9001)
* Relevant academic qualification (STEM Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent)
Desirable:
* Existing UKAS signatory status for Mechanical Calibrations (Pressure, Mass, Torque, Force)
* Experience in creation of measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level
* Experience in use of automation software (Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview)

The (ICS Mechanical) team:
The calibration department currently supports 30,000 pieces of equipment per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment through to state-of-the-art digital systems. ICS Mechanical focuses on the calibration of TMDE capable of making pressure, mass, torque, and force measurements. ICS Mechanical supports calibrations in a dedicated laboratory as well on site around the Barrow Submarines Site. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
