Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will play a key role in providing high-quality, patient-focused care in urgent and emergency situations. Your main duties will include:
* Delivering direct patient care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring safety, comfort, and well-being.
* Assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care for patients presenting with a range of conditions.
* Managing patient flow and ensuring efficient and timely care delivery in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
* Administering medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring their effects, and documenting appropriately.
* Supporting patients and their families by providing information, reassurance, and emotional support during critical and stressful situations.
* Working closely with senior nurses and doctors to manage clinical situations and contribute to decision-making.
* Participating in handovers, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is shared for continuous care.
* Maintaining high clinical and safety standards in line with hospital protocols and policies.
* Assisting with the training and development of junior staff and students, promoting a supportive learning environment.
* Continuously developing your clinical skills and knowledge through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Training
* Registered Healthcare Professional HCPC or NMC registered
* Mentor Qualification or ENB 998.
* Completion of Preceptorship.
Clinical Skills and Experience
* Recent clinical experience in an acute Trust.
* Delivery of evidence-based practice.
* Demonstrates patient-focused approach
* NMC Code of Conduct or HCPC Standards of Conduct
* Awareness of national access standards affecting ED Patients
Governance
* Understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment
* Clear understanding of safeguarding procedures
Personal & Professional Attributes
