Are you ready to revolutionize the gaming industry with your expertise in Level Design? Join our dynamic team and become a key player in shaping gaming experiences. We're seeking a Senior or Principal Level Designer to shape AAA IPs within our Co-Dev vertical. If you're driven by a passion for Level Design and thrive on making a significant impact, this opportunity might be for you.
In this role, you will use your creative and technical skills, in collaboration with members of other disciplines, to shape the space and moment-to-moment experience on this cutting-edge product attached to exciting brands, in development with renowned external partners. This position is within our Middlesbrough based studio and needs an on-site presence twice a week.
In this role you will:
1. Create grey block level layouts guiding players through their objectives by crafting environments built with clear gameplay and pacing intentions in accordance with the direction guidelines;
2. Playtest and refine level layouts, and embrace feedback to ensure the desired experience is met;
3. Collaboratively work with Level Artists to define and request assets and tools allowing to create credible and rich environments conveying their own stories;
4. See through the evolution of your levels as they pass through other disciplines, and ensure the level design intentions are respected towards final delivery;
5. Establish conventions for level sizes, boundaries, distances, paths, chokepoints, etc.;
6. Implement scripted story sequences or events in levels when conditions are met;
7. Create compelling camera work highlighting key moments within the experience;
8. Provide time estimates as necessary;
9. Contribute to and create design support documentation, as necessary.
What we're looking for:
1. 5+ years of game industry experience as a level designer;
2. Strong understanding of space, flow and pacing;
3. Ability to write detailed design documents describing the above;
4. Proficient with Unreal Engine and related tools;
5. Experience with visual scripting and sequencing tools a plus;
6. Ability and willingness to adapt to constant changes;
7. The possibility to come to the office at least twice a week to meet people on site and mentor more junior members of the team.
