The Role The Networks and Innovation Directorate is central to the delivery of our primary role the operation, development and enhancement of the all-island power system and the wholesale electricity market.
Creating a culture of continuous improvement whilst maintaining operational resilience, that drives technical, and process innovation is central to delivering on this role.
This includes leading the delivery of transformational change in cross border markets, operational development, as well as identifying and supporting future Market development for the benefit of consumers.

The Future power Markets Analysis Manager is responsible for leading a team of analysts who support the Strategic Markets Programmes, Market development, planning, and transition towards successful implementation of the Pillars of Shaping Our Electricity Future.
Key Responsibilities Leading a team of analysts in a complex regulated industry, including but not limited to performance and attendance management.
Building and maintaining capability within a highly functioning team of analysts.
Planning and delivery of the required departmental objectives, including analytical studies, reports and key decision-making data.
Influence and coordinate with our key customers and stakeholders to implement our strategy.
This includes working with industry, market participants, government departments, the regulatory authorities, European market operators and other areas within SONI and the EirGrid group to deliver market development and operation in a cost effective and transparent manner.
Develop and maintain detailed, project plans, risk registers, issues log and deliver key project deliverables for SONI, as part of an all-island programme of deliverables.
Plan resources and ensure SONI requirements are delivered as part of the programmes.
Identify initiatives to support the business readiness for future market development and engage with external stakeholders to influence and shape policy through data led analysis.
Collaborate with operations, planning, and networks and innovation teams to provide technical insights and recommendations for decision-making.
Document new methodologies, assumptions, and findings to support regulatory reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in market operations.
Mentor and provide guidance to team members to enhance their technical capabilities Lead, execute and report on projects, both technical and/or commercial, which are designed to achieve regulated targets and meet stakeholder needs in line with the networks and innovation directorate.

What Youll Need Joining SONI as a Future Power Markets Analysis Manager, youll need: Essential: Relevant third level qualification, typically with 8 years relevant experience in a challenging commercial environment.
Proven track record in managing a team, managing resources and deliverables to achieve outcomes.
Demonstratable ability to manage people and resource allocation in large scale projects.
Thorough understanding of Power Markets design and operation.
Ability to mentor and develop a team by setting objectives and allocating roles to develop knowledge.
Ability to develop and maintain complex network models, perform advanced studies, and interpret results.
Ability to carry out technology reviews, draft technical specifications and develop business requirements.
Outstanding problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify system issues and propose effective solutions through analysis.
Excellent data analysis and data management skills.
Anticipate and mitigate problems as they arise, escalating where necessary.
Effective communication skills to present technical information to stakeholders.
Desirable: Demonstrated experience in working with the Single Electricity Market (SEM) or European power systems and transmission system operators (TSOs) Knowledge of electricity market operations and their impact Transmission and Balancing Markets Experience with power market analysis, rules and ability to interpret complex outcomes Familiarity with Market codes, Network codes, and regulatory requirements Experience working in a regulated industry and ability to assess compliance with relevant obligations Project management skills to lead cross-functional initiatives Applicants should note that based on the response, SONI may increase the shortlisting criteria.
