Gap Personnel is acting as an employment business and is currently recruiting for a Quality Lab Inspector for our Client based in Irlam, M44.
As a Quality Lab Inspector, you are responsible for ensuring that products meet company requirements and are manufactured according to specifications. This includes measuring parts, running tests to identify defects, and comparing products against a drawing, customer specification, or industry specification model to ensure everything meets high standards before leaving the manufacturing lines.
Working hours:
Monday to Thursday from 8am to 4:30pm
Friday 7:30am to 3pm
Pay: £12.50/h
Personal Responsibilities:
* Maintain and adhere to all company standards, policies, and procedures, and conduct yourself in line with the company values and code of conduct.
* Support the Senior Management Team, Operational Management team, and other departments within the business through excellent relations and communication methods.
Job Responsibilities:
* Follow quality control procedures for all shipped-out goods and incoming raw materials.
* Inspect the quality of all incoming supplies from suppliers. Reject all incoming raw materials, parts, bought-in products, and accessories that fall short of quality standards and promptly notify the appropriate department of the problem.
* Ensure any process producing non-conforming products is paused and contained until the issue is resolved.
* Complete quality certificates pre-dispatch of goods when applicable and required (2.1, 3.1, etc.).
* Train and monitor staff in quality checking, recording, and escalation. Instruct staff on quality control issues to improve the quality of the product.
* Prepare the inspection process documentation, which should contain inspection logs, reports, and performance data collection.
* Make suggestions for production process enhancements to guarantee that quality control requirements are met.
* Help with maintenance control and timely resolution of customer and internal complaints logs (NCRs).
* Read drawings, plans, and specifications to inspect against the specifications for products and services.
* Measure the product's size, dimensions, and finish, check its functionality, and contrast it with the requirements.
* Fill out thorough reports and performance logs to document inspection results.
* Choose output samples and check them with the proper techniques (measuring dimensions, testing functionality, comparing to specifications, etc.).
* Use automated tools to carry out difficult testing operations and to measure products (CMM, Tensile machine, micrometer gauges, etc.).
* Record testing data and numerous metrics, including the number of damaged products per day and other figures. Keep in a controlled data basis.
* Analyze reject-rework data to highlight repeated issues and offer control plans to prevent reoccurrence.
* Create reports and provide them to the Quality Manager/Engineer.
* Recommend any modifications and changes that should be made to the production procedures.
* The role may require travel to and from all UK sites, and occasionally Romania.
* Carry out any additional work as reasonably requested by your line manager.
Experience, Qualifications & Competencies:
* A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
* Familiarity with quality testing machines and systems.
* Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies.
* Working knowledge of MS Office.
* Responsible and trustworthy.
* Proven experience as a quality inspector or relevant role.
* Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000, etc.).
