Shift Production Manager - Rolling Stock/Railway
Salary up to £65,801 per annum (DOE) plus company benefits

Ganymede Solutions is hiring for a Shift Production Manager to join an award-winning train operating company, with services operating from London to Essex. Our client is one of the UK's most punctual train operating companies with a commitment to deliver a top-class service to the travelling public.
The Role
As the Shift Production Manager, you will be joining a well-known train depot, where you shall hold responsibility for ensuring the operation runs in a safe, reliable and timely manner to ensure the fleet returns to service after engineering work of maintenance, servicing, exams and train cleaning has been completed, on time & expected to schedule. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of quality to meet ISO 9001 procedures.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Oversee depot production on a shift basis.
2. Coordinate with other departments, contracts, and organisations to meet service delivery targets.
3. Ensure all activity complies with approved schedule in line with ISO 9001 standards as outlined in the Quality Manual.
4. Maintain accurate record of work, including logs of events and safety-related documents.
5. Prepare production plans for the train sets across depots.
6. Develop and motivate the workforce, including regular team briefings.
7. Ensure a safe working environment, conducting regular depot inspections and reporting any accidents, incidents or near misses involving staff.
8. Manage technical investigations into defects and incidents as required.
9. Perform On Call First Line response duties on a scheduled roster basis.
10. Provide First Aid or coordinate with other first aiders and emergency services in the event of an incident.
11. Act as Chief Fire Warden at the depot.

About You

Ideally, you will have a recognised qualification in mechanical, electrical or systems engineering, with excellent experience in managing large train depots and fleet maintenance activities. As the Shift Production Manager, you will need to demonstrate a high level of organisational skill, with the ability to plan, schedule, and allocate resources effectively. You will need to demonstrate high-level decision-making abilities, drawing on rolling stock experience or expertise in similar settings. Excellent written skills are essential for report writing, investigations, documenting incidents, accidents, and projects. The ideal candidate must demonstrate effective communication with the ability to negotiate with staff, unions, and contractors with strong supervisory management skills, problem-solving abilities, and a good understanding of quality management systems and quality assurance techniques.
Shift Hours
Week 1: 06:00am - 16:00pm
Week 2: 16:00pm - 22:00pm
Week 3: 22:00pm - 06:00am
Due to the nature of the role, full flexibility is required as weekend and on-call duties are involved. The ideal candidate will be local to the East, South London, and Essex area with the ability to commute to the depot within 1 hour.
