Purpose: To prepare and serve nutritious, safe and well-presented meals to the residents.
Main Responsibilities:
1. To provide a choice of well portioned and nutritious meals for residents according to menu plan.
2. To seek the preferences of residents when preparing and reviewing menu plans.
3. To be aware of current food safety legislation.
4. To manage stock control, minimising waste.
5. To place weekly orders and check in deliveries using safety checks.
6. To work within the budgets set by management.
7. To supervise the kitchen staff and enable them to carry out their duties competently, safely and efficiently.
8. To assist management in the risk assessing of kitchen areas.
9. To take part in internal & external training as required.
10. To attend and contribute to staff meetings when required.
11. To induct new members of staff into the kitchen.
12. To take responsibility for cleanliness and safety of kitchen areas.
13. To liaise with Environmental Health and Pest Control specialists.
14. To be aware of the causes and factors involved in food poisoning and cross contamination, and take steps to prevent them.
15. To have an awareness of the importance of nutrition and hydration in Elderly care.
16. To maintain confidentiality on all aspects of care and your work within the home.
17. To promote the values of St Serfs Care Home at all times.
Experience:
1. Cooking: 1 year (required)
2. Food safety: 1 year (required)
3. Food preparation: 1 year (required)
4. Kitchen experience: 1 year (required)
