This post is suitable for a ST5, or equivalent trainee, or someone looking to gain additional experience before taking up a consultant appointment.Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is an international centre of excellence in child healthcare. In 2018/19 we received 237,908 outpatient visits and 43,218 inpatient visits, across 63 different clinical specialties, meaning GOSH offers the widest range of specialist health services for children on one site. In addition, GOSH is partnered with the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (ICH) and is the largest paediatric centre in Europe dedicated to both clinical and basic scientific research. GOSH and UCL Great Ormond Street ICH have been awarded NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) status and are the only paediatric BRC in the UK.The PIR department is the largest in Europe and the service is equipped with the latest technology designed specifically for the paediatric cohort of patients. Our close links with the UCL Great Ormond Street ICH, as well as industry, ensure we are up to date with the latest research and technological advancements. Main duties of the job The post is a full-time position, although the Trust supports flexible working patterns, providing training in a comprehensive range of PIR procedures in patients ranging from 0 - 18 years of age. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate competency in core IR skills. Basic competence in Paediatric Diagnostic Radiology is also desirable, with the opportunity to develop additional competence in Paediatric Diagnostic Radiology during the fellowship. Development of this knowledge will support clinic decision making for PIR referrals. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the Paediatric Diagnostic Radiology SpR/Fellow out of hours on-call rota at an expected frequency of 1:6-7. The out of hours on-call service is supported by a Paediatric Diagnostic Radiology Consultant.
