The role This dedicated Green Space Project Officer (Green Infrastructure Lead) role will serve as a catalyst for a borough-wide highways greening initiative, aligning with the council's strategic priorities and capitalising on the increasing community interest in making Camden a greener borough. While green infrastructure alone cannot resolve climate mitigation challenges in Camden, it can serve as a powerful tool to address local flood risk, promote biodiversity, cool our streets and buildings, as well as foster a better connection between people and nature. The post will manage the delivery of green space within the high-profile Camden Transport programme within the council, adopting a mission-oriented approach to delivery. A key part of this work is implementing the findings and guidance developed as part of the Highways Greening Accelerator project. The role will also be responsible for delivering a portfolio of new highways greening projects from inception through to completion. Although the role sites within the Green Space team, the role will involve working closely with Transport and Highways colleagues. Establish a robust management model for planning and delivering excellent new green space in the public highway, building on the extensive work that has already been carried out over the last 2 years. Embed climate resilience within the Transport programme and the across the council, recording and tracking deliverables and outputs. Ensure the council continues to resource new green space through sustainable financial planning. Develop and implement new green space schemes in the highway, including rain gardens, tree pits, pocket parks and SuDS features. Build strategic partnerships with local businesses and community organisations to enable new management models for maintaining new green space. Embed highways greening into the council's long-term operations as a sustainable and integrated practice In this role you will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team and contribute to our commitment to deliver for the people of Camden. About you We are looking for someone with a thorough, working knowledge of green space, landscape and transport policies, plans and issues in an inner city environment. You will need to have ex cellent project management skills and p roven experience in effectively project-managing landscape and public realm initiatives. Your experience will also include contract procurement, monitoring and management, dealing with contractors and sound technical knowledge of the range of services that interact with highways and transport projects within the council. You will have an excellent track record of financial management, budget control and experience of delivering services within financial limits. To be successful in this role you will have the ability to devise and manage appropriate and effective consultation and engagement exercises with local communities, work closely with elected members and manage public meetings.
