You will work as part of a team, with other professionals and provide an exceptional service. The duties are physical and practical and include document control (electronic and written), preparing patients for family visits, transporting patients, assisting at post mortem examinations and ensuring health and safety regulations are met. Meticulous attention to detail, recall of information and ability to work with others, especially the bereaved, is vital. Those applying will be enthusiastic, have an eye for detail, and be prepared to work in a challenging, and sometimes upsetting environment, including hands on working with deceased patients. You will have a keen interest in specialising in perinatal and paediatric post mortem examinations and pathology. The Mortuary serves the local community and works on behalf of HM Coroner, with close contacts with Funeral Directors, Police, Consultant Pathologists' and Laboratory staff. Main duties of the job To follow all Mortuary Standard Operating Procedures (OPS) in order to preform daily duties To ensure the day to day running of the Mortuary is carried out effectively and efficiently To participate in all mortuary procedures including administration, cleaning, and assistance at post mortem and research To ensure all documentation and electronic records are accurate and completed daily. Participates in the routine and specialist work of the Department Admission and release of patients ensuring they are identified and cared for in a suitable manner with appropriate moving and handling. Receiving referrals from internal and external service users and providing accurateinformation Preparing the post mortem room and adjacent facilities prior to any examination taking place Recording relevant data such as organ weights and measurements as required. To complete all mandatory training as required by the Trust. To be responsible for identifying and addressing your own continuing professional development and maintaining a personal CPD folder.
