Job summary 37.5 hours per week Liaison Psychiatry is the sub specialty of Psychiatry involving assessment and management of mental health needs related to physical problems. Clinical presentations span a wide spectrum from organic psychosis, severe depression or somatoform disorder to adjustment reactions, delirium, dementia and abnormal health behaviour. The primary function of this role is to undertake triage of patients presenting to the ED by completing a brief assessment of issues and risk and formulating, communicating and documenting an appropriate management plan or signposting away from the department to suitable other community based crisis services. Full mental health assessments will also be a key aspect of this role.
