The opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced EC&I Engineer of all levels to join a reputable and international engineering design consultancy at the forefront of innovative engineering solutions. Our client is looking for Lead, Senior and EC&I Engineers to join their workforce to get stuck into exciting projects.
This role will be based in Warrington/Middlesborough/Aberdeen/Grangemouth.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
1. Reporting to the Lead EC&I Engineer, you are responsible for the production of the EC&I design within single or multi-discipline engineering within EPCM or EPC projects.
2. These projects will range across the full lifecycle from concept to commissioning, in both green and brownfield applications.
3. The projects will vary in complexity and size, delivered for all the major sectors (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Petrochemicals and Food).
4. You are responsible to complete the EC&I Engineering and Design as set out in the Project Scope.
5. You shall support the Lead Engineer in delivering the EC&I design within budget and planning, including change control and consistency of the Process design with other disciplines.
6. You are responsible for the quality of the EC&I design.
7. You will participate in internal and external design reviews and present your designs to the Lead Engineer.
8. Depending on size and complexity you may be EC&I Engineer for one project, or for a portfolio of projects.
9. You shall be able to deliver projects in a multi-discipline environment and be capable of coordinating all EC&I engineering with other disciplines: Mechanical, Civil and Structural, Process and Automation.
10. Experience with construction, testing and commissioning activities required by Engineering to support post design activities (preferred).
You will have the following qualifications & experience
1. More than 3 years of experience as an EC&I engineer, in single/multi-discipline projects, in an Engineering/EPCM/EPC company, in one of the above-mentioned sectors.
2. Good knowledge of EC&I engineering and design, with a sound knowledge of other disciplines (Automation, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping and Process).
3. Good understanding of both the Electrical and Instrumentation discipline, capable of leading designs for both disciplines.
4. Experience of the latest tools for EC&I design such as AMTECH, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Packages.
5. MEng/MSc/BSc/BEng in EC&I Engineering.
6. Sound understanding of the current British and International Standards.
7. Result oriented. You are only satisfied after your engineering and design is accepted by the Lead Engineer, you delivered top quality and the client is satisfied.
8. You plan and organise your activities with the Lead Engineer, understanding the dependencies of the engineering activities within the mechanical discipline and between mechanical and other disciplines.
9. You have a 'one time right' mentality.
Risks and Hazards
Chemical Site: Risks and Hazards are in line with working on process and chemical sites, including moving machinery, working from heights, electrical hazards, chemical burns, trips and falls, and confined spaces. A full site induction will be provided, and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
Utility Site: Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a utility site, including chemical burns, trips and falls, and moving machinery. A full site induction will be provided, and all safety requirements must be adhered to.
Refinery Site: Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a refinery site, including manual handling, working in confined spaces, and hazardous materials. A full site induction will be provided.
Nuclear/Defence: Risks and Hazards include working on a nuclear licensed site, with potential exposure to radiation and high voltage equipment. A full site induction will be provided.
Construction: Risks and Hazards include working on a construction site, including trips, falls, and moving machinery. A full site induction will be provided.
Office: Risks and Hazards in an office environment include display screen equipment and manual handling. A full induction will be provided.
Pharmaceutical and Chemical: Risks and Hazards include working on pharmaceutical and chemical sites, including mechanical hazards and extreme temperatures. A full induction will be provided.
