Role:
Volunteers will offer support to members of About with Friends’ gardening team. The role is suitable for those who enjoy a more ‘hands-on’ approach and who have patience and understanding in supporting members with a variety of horticultural tasks, helping to build up their skills and confidence.
Gardening with Friends runs several teams of staff and volunteers supporting a number of members carrying out weeding, planting, mowing, pruning, and many other gardening tasks. The team also carries out clearance work, puts up fences, and lays paths. Customers include individuals and commercial organizations such as hotels.
As part of the team, members are able to experience more about the world of work and to develop their abilities.
Time commitment:
A regular commitment of one day a week would be preferable, although half-day opportunities can be arranged.
About the charity:
About with Friends is an active and energetic charity that is based in Cromer, North Norfolk. Their main purpose is to offer children, young people, and adults with learning disabilities the chance to lead the lives they choose.
