The Consultant Psychologist will play a pivotal role in developing and leading a new adult psycho-oncology service for people affected by cancer in County Durham and Darlington. They will be highly motivated and will develop effective working relationships across organisations and boundaries. This role will bring senior clinical and wider-professional expertise and leadership to the development of a high-quality psycho-oncology service for people with cancer. The role will be vital in connecting teams and professionals across organisations and care settings which aims to improve access and support to patients with psychological issues throughout and following their cancer journey. The post-holder will work closely with clinical leads, multi-disciplinary teams and service managers across County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT), providing clinical leadership and guidance to ensure the needs of people affected by cancer are supported. The Consultant Psychologist will hold an active caseload, delivering highly specialist assessments and interventions for people affected by cancer, as well as contributing to research, training, and service development to enhance psycho-oncology delivery and care within the organisation.
