What we’re looking for…
The main purpose of the Health Safety & Environment Business Partner (Projects) is to partner with Barr Soft Drinks project engineers and site management teams for the safe delivery of strategic capital projects, ensuring full compliance with all health, safety and environmental legal and other requirements, company policies and external certifications. The HS&E Business Partner (Projects) also works with the Group Health Safety and Environment Manager and the Project Engineering Teams to define company standards in line with best practice in the industry on the management of capital projects.
A partnership approach is essential to both support the successful delivery of projects and continuously improve performance.
The HS&E Business Partner (Projects) reports to the Group Safety and Environment Manager. This is an important role as part of the cross-functional teams that deliver strategic capital projects. The role also makes a key contribution to the development and maintenance of the company HSE management systems that relate to capital projects and equipment. The HS&E Business Partners work in partnership with project engineers, with site operational management teams, with the support of the rest of the QSE team, to drive compliance to the appropriate standards, to continuously improve the company H&S culture and ultimately improve the performance of the sites.
The HS&E Business Partner (Project) role covers all manufacturing sites and warehouses at Cumbernauld, Milton Keynes and Forfar.
Your responsibilities will include...
As Health Safety & Environment Business Partner (Projects) your responsibilities will include;
* To work as part of cross functional teams for the successful delivery of strategic capital projects, ensuring that all relevant H&S and environmental risks have been identified, removed or mitigated, and that all compliance aspects have been met.
* To develop company standards in conjunction with the Group Health Safety and Environment Manager and partner with business stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and company standards.
* To play a proactive role in improving health, safety and environmental site performance through training, coaching, development of site HS&E documentation (i.e. risk assessments, safe systems of work, etc), and the development of appropriate control measures with the proactive engagement of employees.
* To benchmark and drive best practice / policy deployment / training requirements across all sites and branches and keep the sites up to date with new initiatives.
* To proactively provide support and training where appropriate to ensure health & safety and environmental standards are built into all projects
* To ensure all group and site policies remain up to date and effective at all times in conjunction with key stakeholders.
* To collate and publish health & safety and environmental performance reports and lead discussions centred around continuous improvements
* To keep all sites and functions up to date with changes to legislation, company and external certification standards as well as analysing and advising on their potential implications for the business
* To implement communication campaigns, provide training programs and support initiatives designed to improve the company health & safety and environmental culture
* To lead external and internal audits and inspections across the group, recommending both improvement opportunities and remedial actions where standards are not being met
* To support the site teams with incident investigations, ensuring that root-causes have been identified and corrective actions implemented.
What you’ll bring...
The successful candidate will have;
* Strong communication and relationship management skills
* Educated to degree level with at least 5 years working within a Health & Safety and Environmental role, preferably within a manufacturing environment and ideally in the food & drinks industry
* NEBOSH qualified (min NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent, and working knowledge of ISO 45001). Working experience and knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental management system and standards.
* IOSH and IEMA membership.
* Trained Lead auditor in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
* Proven track record of success in leading and managing change
* In depth knowledge and understanding of all relevant H&S and Environmental legal requirements and external certification standards
* Strong IT skills required.
