Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose
The Principal will be responsible for the technical leadership of the Corrosion discipline as well as delivery oversight of Corrosion and Risk Management services.
The Principal will provide leadership in development and execution of Corrosion Management processes and managing the risks to client’s assets with the ability to advise on risk reduction best practices and corrosion strategies.
Functions
ESSENTIAL
·Provide technical leadership and authority in corrosion engineering discipline, designating work and quality standards where applicable to engineers within their technical capabilities.
·Deliver best-in-class integrity service based on concepts of RBA/RBI/barrier management, and to utilise predictive modelling and data driven analysis where feasible
·Ensure projects are performed in accordance with industry codes/standards, legislation, accreditation, and Oceaneering or Client policies/procedures
·Development of corrosion management strategies, procedures, standards and plans
·Facilitate the development and continuous improvement of the corrosion/integrity process between Oceaneering and the Client within and across various assets
·Develop strong relationships internally with the integrity management team and externally with Clients to ensure excellence in delivery and demonstrate Oceaneering’s capabilities
·Ensure Oceaneering processes and procedures for all aspects of corrosion engineering are maintained and developed
·Conduct and manage the risk based assessment process on behalf of the client, and provide material and corrosion related expertise and effectively interact with multi-disciplinary RBA or other process groups
·Manage workscope for corrosion circuits, collation of data, credible corrosion threats, material susceptibility, unmitigated corrosion/erosion rate modelling, corrosion barriers and effectiveness, damage locations, failure modes and monitoring plans as required
·Lead or perform complex corrosion engineering analysis and assessments and provide specialist advice for service delivery, investigations, research or development work within agreed parameters
·Provide ongoing review of engineer output to ensure quality and consistency of decisions made.
·Provide input to decisions involving equipment design, repairs, modifications, and changes to operating parameters within own limits of competence, or lead consultations with suitably qualified personnel.
·Lead the process of development/updating the asset Corrosion Management Strategy (CMS) and associated Corrosion Control Matrices (CCM) based on the RBA outcomes.
·To provide corrosion-related input in the definition of safe operating boundaries for the assets
·In the course of RBI support the inspection engineer in the generation and definition of an optimised inspection programme which balances reliability, integrity and cost.
·Develop / Update the asset corrosion related KPIs when required by the client upon the completion of RBA
·Raising technical notes or integrity alerts to the project/operation team in case of noticing anomalies in the design, construction or operation of the asset.
·Write accurate and concise reports or documents which review, analyse, and trend corrosion management or risk assessment data and outputs
·Identify best practice and innovative methods or specialist technology in order to optimise engineering efficiency and ensure Oceaneering take the initiative in all corrosion/integrity matters in order to consider available options or opportunities that could enhance efficiency, and/or safety or decrease costs, to the benefit of Oceaneering or clients.
·Investigate and report instances of unexpected material degradation, perform root cause failure analysis of corrosion/materials-related failures.
·Lead the process of collating and compiling integrity management lesson learned data from various assets and sharing them with the concerned teams across the organization
·Manage and develop engineers by actively mentoring and promoting talent to cultivate an engineering team capable of delivering a best in class service
·Lead, develop or input to bids and proposals in support of global operations
·Support the Line Manager in management of Oceaneering contract providing assurance on technical delivery and cost management including budgets/forecasting
NON-ESSENTIAL
·Represent Oceaneering on appropriate industry technical forums and seminars
·The list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake tasks that may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post
·Assist with any other duties as and when required
·Undertake specific projects as instructed by management
Qualifications
REQUIRED
1. Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline in a relevant subject (e.g. Corrosion, Materials, Metallurgy, Chemical, Chemistry)
2. Award of professional engineer status within local region e.g. CEng/EUR ING/PE

3. Master’s Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline in a relevant subject (e.g. Corrosion, Materials, Metallurgy, Chemical, Chemistry)
4. API 580 Risk Based Inspection, API571 Corrosion and Materials
