The SWCS PBIAA will leverage unique regional expertise, translational research infrastructure and critical manufacturing capabilities as innovation assets, and aims to make a step-change in the expansion rate of 'CSconnected' by providing specialist skills training to fill critical skills gaps, attracting CS academics and researchers from across the UK to set-up and innovate in South Wales and creating an environment for innovation and engagement in compound semiconductor commercialisation activities. The Operations Officer will support the delivery of the SWCS PBIAA’s key activity strands, in particular its upskilling and reskilling objectives, working closely with the PBIAA Project Manager and CPD Project Manager appointed to the project to deliver the key outputs. These include, but are not limited to: ⦁ production of online versions of at least two of the CSconnected modules ⦁ online training for at least 80 individuals with at least 40 of this receiving follow-on practical hands-on experience to supplement the CSconnected taught materials training for at least 160 individuals without a track record of working for CSconnected cluster companies. This post is full time (35 hours) and fixed term for 24 months, available immediately from April 2025. Duties and Responsibilities Key Duties ⦁ Provide professional advice and guidance on CPD processes and procedures to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood. ⦁ Investigate and analysis specific issues within the delivery of skills training, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within the CPD field. ⦁ Ensure that the support for the delivery of the SWCS PBIAA skills activities and its customers, is to a high standard and meet the CPD Unit’s Customer Service Standards – making recommendations for improvements where identified to ensure an excellent and efficient customer journey is delivered. ⦁ Collaborate with other SWCS PBIAA staff and professional services departments in order to make recommendations for developments and implementation of established processes and procedures ⦁ Establish networks and working relationships with key contacts, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates, organisations and outside bodies as ⦁ required, including creation of website and social media copy to increase awareness of skills activities available via SWCS PBIAA funding. ⦁ Create specific working groups from colleagues across the University to achieve SWCS PBIAA skills training objectives. ⦁ Supervise specific tasks undertaken by the CPD administrative team on an occasional basis to accomplish key objectives. ⦁ Develop and deliver training in key CPD platforms, such as CMS. ⦁ Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support SWCS PBIAA skills training activities, including planning, organising and analysing monitoring and evaluation data to create reports. ⦁ Instruct and guide other employees across the University within skills training delivery as required. Specific Duties ⦁ First point of contact for SWCS PBIAA skills enquiries and enrolments. ⦁ Coordinate and administer training related activities via our course management system (CMS – AccessPlanIt), including enrolment on courses, income monitoring and course certificate distribution. ⦁ Assist with the preparation of course material / presentation arrangements and training room (on-line & in-person) set-ups. ⦁ Support the SWCS PBIAA Project Manager in the development of financial process and the completion of financial and administrative tasks, specifically in the context of skills training and public engagement/outreach events. ⦁ Assist in collating financial information and data across all work packages to be used for budget reporting purposes to the project’s funding body (EPSRC).
